• It was May 2014 when Mojo Man played their first show. Five songs for a local Dutch radio and tv station. A little more than a year later they recorded their self entitled debut album Mojo Man featuring nine stomping tracks. If you know your classic blues, rock and soul ABC's, this is going to sound awfully familiar. Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding and Rolling stones are unmistakeable influences and singer/ guitarist and main songwriter of the band Marcel Duprix is the first to acknowledge them. Founders Reinier Zervaas and Marcel Duprix set out to make music that would appeal to a big audience serving up a '70s-influenced sound of blues-infused rock and soul. Zervaas: "what sets us apart is the fusion of good old rock and roll band with a 5-piece horn section." " We fondly call it balls and horns." "Playing so many shows in the last 18 months allowed us to develop our sound on stage."We tried to preserve the energy of our live shows that seems to come across regardless of the age of our audience." Duprix says: "Every writer tries to write an all killer, no filler album." "Well I don't know."We just tried to have as much fun as we possibly could in the studio."All songs were recorded with us playing as a band, "Just like how we do it live: with our balls out in the open for everyone to see and straight from the heart."
